Advocacy

The concept of mental health advocacy has been developed to promote the human rights of persons with mental disorders and to reduce stigma and discrimination. Persons who are living with HIV or AIDS and have mental health problems face double stigma.

Expert centre staff together with PLHA aims at raising awareness among professionals and public about mental health of people who are living with HIV/AIDS, their families and carers. The aim of these activities is reducing stigma and developing services that will answer the specific needs of people with double diagnoses better.

We want to put the issue of mental health problems in the context of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care on the agenda.
