Among them are the celebration of the World Mental Health Day, The Breast Cancer Awareness Month, support training for asylum office representatives in the prevention of burnout at work, the round table “The Importance of Expertise and Expert Opinions as Evidence in the Asylum Procedure”, as well as Walk for freedom. In the period from 23-25. In October, the IAN team was involved in the work to support the representatives of the asylum office in the prevention of burnout at work. Biljana Petrović and Jelena Lončarević dealt with the prevention of employee burnout, while Vladimir Jović spoke about psychological trauma and the specifics of working with people who have survived it. On October 13, the representative of IAN, Biljana Petrović, spoke at the round table “The Importance of Expertise and Expert Opinions as Evidence in the Asylum Procedure”, organized by the Belgrade Center for Human Rights and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Serbia . The goal of the event was to bring to the representatives of competent state institutions the importance of comprehensive consideration of evidence submitted in asylum procedures, with a focus on particularly sensitive cases, in order to improve practice in making decisions on asylum requests. Respecting the findings and opinions of experts from different fields, such as medicine and psychology, is necessary for the correct determination of the factual situation in individual cases of asylum seekers, and for making legal decisions. On the occasion of the European Day against Human Trafficking (October 18), IAN joined the Walk for Freedom aimed at fighting human trafficking and held on October 14 in Belgrade. The Walk for Freedom is a global event, bringing together people in hundreds of cities around the world.
