Conference “Towards professionalization of the nanny profession”

The final conference of the project “Valuing childcare and housework” was held on Saturday, January 30, 2021. The project is part of a larger project Gender Responsive Governance – Redistribution of unpaid care”, implemented by UN Women Serbia, in cooperation with the Coordination Body for Gender Equality, with the support of the Government of the United Kingdom and British Embassy in Belgrade.

The aim of the conference was to present the results of the project, as well as to exchange experiences and discuss further steps on the path towards professionalization of the nanny profession in Serbia. Experiences of good practice from the region were shared by representatives of the Croatian Nanny Association and the North Macedonian Nanny Association. The Association of Nannies of Serbia, which was established within the project with the aim of gathering nannies and representing their own interests, was also presented.

The conference was attended by representatives of state bodies – the Coordination Body for Gender Equality, the Republic Institute for Social Protection, the Commissioner for Protection of Equality, the Ministry of Justice, a representative of UN Women Serbia, representatives of partner organizations and a large number of nannies.
