News Meeting of the Working group for monitoring of UN CAT recommendations Posted on 18. June 2018. 2 min read 0 0 72 Within the scope of the project Fight against Torture and Impunity, implemented by IAN in partnership with YUCOM, advocacy activities are planned in order to support implementation of the recommendations of the UN Committee against Torture (UN CAT). All interested civil society organizations to monitor and advocate for the implementation of UN CAT recommendations are divided into 4 working groups that will follow the various UN Committee recommendations in accordance with their interests and fields of action. The first meeting of Working Group that emphasizes the importance of change in legislation related to the criminal offense of torture in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Serbia, the right to rehabilitation and compensation for all victims of torture. Civil society organizations that attended the meeting: IAN, YUCOM, BCHR, YIHR, MDRI, Centre for Human Rights Nis, representatives of the Office of the Ombudsman, SUPRAM, CRPC, OHCHR – Human Rights Team, ASTRA, HLC, representative of the Council of Europe. Project Fight against Torture and Impunity is financially supported by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia, the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the UN Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture.
