26th June – UN Day in Support of Victims of Torture

This year, as well, I.A.N. will commemorate June 26, the UN International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. We will mark June 26 as part of the Holistic Action against Torture project, which we are implementing in partnership with Center for Human Rights Nis and Center for Civic Initiative from Prilep. The project is funded by the European Union.

We will mark this year’s day in support of torture victims in Nis on Friday, June 26, and the program includes three events.

1. Artistic street performance “Path in support of victims of torture” (11: 00-11: 55)

Performas will interactively present and raise issues that address discrimination, as well as the fine line between punishment and inhumane treatment that can lead to torture. Participating artists: Jelena Djordjevic, Mladen Milojkovic, Vojislav Ilic and Branimir Stankovic. The performance will take place from Obrenovićeva Street, from the entrance to the underground passage to the entrance to Kopitarova Street (Kazandžijsko sokače)

2. Press Conference (11:55 – 13:00)

3. Screening of the film “Reminiscence”, author Radoslav Ćebić (19:00 -21: 00)

The film most directly presents our users, victims of torture, who have experienced various types of torture in war and peace, and reminds us of many forgotten traumas, events, injustices, violations of the law and violations of human rights.
